To the Family of Pat and June Farlin
I was very saddened to have learned, just yesterday afternoon, of the passing of your Dad.
I first met Pat, in the mid-80s at an Airport Equipment Exhibition in San Antonio. Within just
a couple of days of this meeting, we were together again, in his Las Vegas McCarran Airport
office, negotiating a Contract for his Airport's first Flight Information Display System.
Over the next year or so, I had the pleasure both of working with Pat as well as socializing
with he and June. With my large family (6 kids) and theirs, we had a lot to share. Although
we sometimes went to a restaurant (The Trencherman was one of their favorites), it was at
their beautiful Vegas home that we usually met.
Pat's obit mentioned his "..strong opinions…". I'LL SAY!
After Vegas, our personal contact waned but our email messaging continued unabated. We
conversed, occasionally, while he was in Philadelphia. Then, our vocational paths crossed once
again in New Orleans - a place he disliked very much. One warm Summer's evening, my Wife,
Barbara, and I enjoyed a wonderful, lingering supper, with Pat and June, in the garden of The
Court of Two Sisters Restaurant over in the French Quarter.
Every year, at Christmas, even though Pat was contending with diabetes, we always enjoyed
sending your Mom and Dad a large box of Dayton's finest. Pat always remarked that, while
HE couldn't enjoy the Esther Price Chocolates, June and you kids sure did.
Back in the mid 50s, the U.S. Army deployed me to Monterey's Army Language School to study
Russian. Pat and I used to laugh about the 1956/1957 Pebble Beach green's fees: $6:00! A few
years back, Barbara and I were planning a trip to Carmel and, with Pat and June then residing
just across the Bay, we happily planned a reunion supper with them at Casanova's Restaurant.
For some now-unremembered reason, this trip didn't materialize - which I will always regret.
Pat was born in June, 1933. My birthday is August 31, 1933. Perhaps the fact of our being age-
contemporaries was helpful in building our friendship. Whatever the reasons, whenever we
were together, he and June always made me feel warmly welcome.
I am very sorry for your loss.

We enjoyed having Pat in our Cardiac Rehab class. He was always a lively conversationalist and a hard worker. We will miss him as I am sure everyone who knew him will.

Grandpa Pat was a kind, thoughtful, strong, and loving man. He was a tremendous role model because of his unwavering work ethic and loyalty to his family and friends. I always felt loved by him, because he made sure to tell me how proud of me he was. The second to last time I saw him in person, he pulled me aside and told me that he was proud of me, and that I was a good mother (to his great-grandson, Mark). I am so glad he was not afraid to share how he felt. I love and miss him so much.
