Obituary of Melvin Leon Northcutt

Melvin Northcutt passed away early Monday morning. He fought courageously for life to be with his family, continuing to work and always downplaying the struggle of his battle with cancer. Mel grew up in Chicago, IL. It was job offers that moved him to Wisconsin and then finally to California to run the dental technician division of Career Academy, where he met his wife. He opened Northcutt Dental Laboratory in 1971 and moved the family to Santa Cruz. Mel is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Haydee; devoted children Augusto, Patty, Mark and Sharon and grandchildren, Jasmine, Davon, Joseph, Marissa and Amaya. He is also survived by his brother Cleveland Northcutt, Jr. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cleveland and Edith Northcutt. Friends and family are invited to a funeral service on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Santa Cruz Memorial, 1927 Ocean St. Ext. in Santa Cruz.
