Obituary of Catherine Beulah Lindblad

Please share a memory of Catherine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Catherine "Cay" Beulah Lindblad passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at the age of 84. Cay had been a resident at Pacific Coast Manor for the past three years. Cay's family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Pacific Coast Manor and Hospice of Santa Cruz County for the wonderful and compassionate care she received during her time at Pacific Coast Manor. Cay was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada on December 19, 1929 to her parents Campbell Bannerman "C.B." and Beulah May (Argue) Smith. The eldest of four children, Cay was raised in Ottawa and Toronto, attended Toronto schools, and spent her summers in Cobourg, Ontario at the Lakeshore Pentecostal Camp on the shore of Lake Ontario. In the summer of 1951 Cay took a trip to Santa Cruz to visit family. While attending the First Assembly of God Church (Christian Life Center) on Mission St., she met her future husband Carl Robert "Bob" Lindblad. They were married in Toronto on April 5, 1952. Bob and Cay settled in Santa Cruz where Bob worked as a General Building Contractor and together they raised their three children, Rob, Gary, and Joan. The family enjoyed living in many homes that Bob built throughout Santa Cruz and Scotts Valley. Bob and Cay and their children attended Twin Lakes Baptist Church at the original 200 7th Ave. location. Cay worked in the church office for several years as secretary to pastor Roy Kraft. Faith in God and her belief in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior were very important to Cay. Cay was faithful in her commitment to prayer for her family and friends. A daily prayer list left about the house was a telltale sign. In October of 1967 Bob and Cay moved their family to Jamestown, New York. Jamestown was Bob's hometown, and he wanted his family to experience a little of his upbringing. Jamestown was only a three-hour drive from Toronto, which allowed Cay more frequent visits with her family. Bob's dream was to buy a lot and build a house on Chautauqua Lake, which he did in 1970 in Bemus Point, NY. The family spent many happy years in that house on the lake. Cay worked as a secretary for Pathologist Dr. Furman at the WCA Hospital. The family attended Chandler St. Baptist Church which became Hillcrest Baptist Church when it moved in 1970. Cay and Bob returned to Santa Cruz in 1977 attending Twin Lakes Church and Santa Cruz Bible Church. Cay and Bob moved into the Spring Lakes Park in Scotts Valley in 2000 and enjoyed retirement life among dear friends. Many happy memories were made with the family at Spring Lakes. Cay was preceded to Glory by her husband Bob in December of 2006. Cay is survived by her children Rob and (Joan) Lindblad of Watsonville, Gary and (Cindi) Lindblad of Irvine and daughter Joan Baker of Santa Cruz;her grandchildren Amy and (David) Boschen, Zachary, Joanna, Matthew, Grace Lindblad, Katie, Alex and Jack Baker; her brothers George and (Barbara) Smith of Palm Desert, David and (Heather) Smith of Toronto and Robert and (Brenda) Smith of London, Ont. and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends and family are invited to a funeral service on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at Oakwood Memorial Chapel, 3301 Paul Sweet Rd. in Santa Cruz.
