Obituary of Daniel Cunha

Daniel Cunha, 91, passed away at his home on Saturday, September 12, 2014. He was the son of David Cunha and Ruth Crittenden. Daniel was a native of Santa Clara. Daniel was in the navy during WWII and flew in a PBY Catalina as a Navigator. He also worked as an Operator at NASA Wind Tunnel in Mountain View. He worked for 30 years with Lockheed as a design engineer and for Heller Helicopter. Some of Daniel's other activities included wood working and volunteering for the Red Cross. One significant event included meeting Charles Lindburgh and shaking his hand. Daniel is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sybil "Dandy" Cunha, his sister Thelma Charvat, brother Gary Pacheco, his son David Cunha (Sheryl), his four daughters; Judy Holstein (Gary), Kathy Johnson (Jan), Dinah Gulland (Tim), Katie Gonzales, his Godson Dan Burja, 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and many wonderful neighbors. Daniel was preceded in death by his first wife Violet Cunha, his sister Pauline, his parents David and Ruth, step mother Sarah and brother -in- laws Joe & Don. Services for Daniel will be held Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 11:00am, Santa Cruz Memorial Mission Chapel, 1927 Ocean Street, Santa Cruz.
