Obituary of Julie Ann Jacobsen

Please share a memory of Julie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On August 28th, in Corralitos CA, Julie Jacobsen, 59, the girl with the million dollar smile, passed away after a valiant battle with cancer in her beautiful home surrounded by the ones she loved. Julie was born January 18, 1955 in Lafayette, CA to Phyllis and Jack Emmert. Throughout her life, Julie was very active in her community and loved nothing more than helping others by volunteer work, at her church, Twin Lakes. She was a voracious reader, an exceptional swimmer, a gourmet cook, crafty knitter and a seamstress extraordinaire. She had prize winning hydrangeas and she and Dennis enjoyed their beautiful landscape. Her sometimes reserved demeanor was a cover, as anyone who knew Jules, was aware that she was clever, witty and had a wicked sense of humor. She loved nothing more than spending an evening with Dennis watching Seinfeld. She brought that same good humor, enthusiasm and sunny disposition to every situation making the dreariest day a whole lot brighter for having shared it with her. Her amazing organizational and management skills belied the fact that she had multiple projects going on at any one time. Julie was an invaluable asset to her many family businesses. She was a force of nature! Her parents and brother, John predeceased her. She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years Dennis Jacobsen, her step-daughters Terri Ranuio (Kelly), Leigh Fleck (Tim), five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Bill and David (Melissa), nephew Evan, her sisters in law, Diane Hice (Eddie), Sue Emmert, niece Heather (Landon), and her lifetime BFF of over 50 years, Joni Scurich, as well as her beloved pets Zippy and Butters. Services were private. Any charitable contributions may be directed to Hospice of Santa Cruz or JDRF.
