I came to Mar Vista first as a parent of three children, then as a parent volunteer, and finally as a paid teacher's assistant. I worked with quite a few of the teachers at Mar Vista during the years that I was there, Maxene being one of them. I liked her very much, and we always go along just fine. One of my three kids, Jason, had her in 3rd grade. He also liked her very much. She had a reputation for being no-nonsense with the kids, and it worked famously. It was my honor to get to know Maxene on a more personal level after I was a paid employee. I will miss her.
