Obituary of Gary Caramella

Gary Caramella husband, father, grandfather, darn good fisherman and Rottweiler dog lover passed away Wednesday, June 30th in Santa Cruz. At his request there will not be a service. Gary was born in San Jose, the middle child of Charles and Catherine Caramella. He attended James Lick High School. Gary loved driving and made a career as a Teamster driving long haul and later concrete mixer trucks for more than 35 years. After retirement Gary and his wife Janis lived 6 months of the year in Santa Cruz and 6 months at their vacation home in La Paz, Mexico BCS, allowing them to enjoy perfect weather, make new friends and fish all year round. Gary will be missed by his family and friends in California and Mexico. We all hope he's hooking a big one right now! Gary is survived by his wife Janis Nestor, son Matthew Caramella and daughter Monique Caramella, granddaughters Raven and Riley and their mother Yvette Caramella. He is also survived by his sister Linda (Paul) Rasmussen, niece Michele (Bob) Joy, nephews Scott (Kim) Rasmussen and Eric (Rosa) Johnson, great nieces Sierra Rasmussen and Hannah Johnson and great nephews Taylor & Ryan Rasmussen and Max Johnson. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations in Gary's memory be made to: Hospice of Santa Cruz County, 940 Disc Dr., Scotts Valley, CA 95066.
