Obituary of Louise Mary Bagnall
Please share a memory of Louise to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Adored wife, mother and friend, Louise Mary Bagnall passed away on July 23, 2014, at her home in Santa Cruz with her daughters by her side. She was 83 years old.
Daughter of Vincent and Milica Simich, Louise grew up in San Pedro, California and attended San Pedro High School and Palos Verdes College. She also attended Lone Mountain College in San Francisco. Louise married William Bagnall, her loving husband of 60 years, and the two moved to Santa Cruz in 1959 where they have lived ever since.
Louise's vivacious personality and generous spirit lent her to numerous hobbies, including line dancing, playing bridge, teaching her grandchildren board games and attending Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk summer concerts with her friends. Louise was a dedicated San Francisco Giants fan and talented watercolor painter. She also volunteered her time as "den mother" for the Cub Scouts and yard duty teacher at her children's school, and served a term on the Grand Jury. Louise held many different jobs over the years but being a homemaker and taking care of her family was most important to her. Louise reveled in planning intricate Easter egg hunts for her ever-growing number of grandchildren months in advance, creating Christmas Day games for her family and enjoying a weekly tradition of Sunday dinner along West Cliff Drive with her husband.
Louise is survived by her husband, William Bagnall; children John Bagnall (Kary) of Aptos, Sarah Deworken, Kathy Smithers and Peter Bagnall (Lisa) all of Santa Cruz; and grandchildren Brooke Crumpton, Dameon Deworken, Caitlin Deworken, Vince Smithers, Megan Larkin, Natalie Smithers, Morgan Bagnall, Carly Bagnall, Taylor Bagnall and Jake Bagnall, and greatgrandchildren Charlie Deworken, Damos Deworken, Lucy Crumpton and soon to arrive Luca Gigliotti. She is also survived by her sister, Katie Williams of San Pedro, and nephew David Williams (Mary) of Henderson, Nevada.
Services will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Resurrection Church, the parish Louise belonged to and the church her husband and son designed. The church is located at 7600 Soquel Drive in Aptos.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Louise's memory to Resurrection Church or Hospice of Santa Cruz County, 940 Disc Dr., Scotts Valley, CA, 95066.
