Obituary of Kathleen Marie Young

Marie Young, a long-time Watsonville resident, died peacefully on Monday, July 21, 2014, at her home on Western Drive. She was born on her uncle's horse ranch outside the town of Mancos, Colorado on October 16, 1923. Her family often visited the Four Corners region where, as a teen, she explored areas such as Mesa Verde. Marie Young graduated from Radcliff Elementary, Watsonville High School and Salinas Junior College, where she was an honor student. She spent her professional career working for Coast Counties Gas and, then, PG&E until her retirement. Marie Young's life was dedicated to raising her children and caring for her family. The family went on many fishing, boating and camping trips and regularly spent two weeks every summer at Medicine Lake in Northern California. One of her interests was genealogy, chronicling the history of her family ties with the Robbins' family to the 1600s in North America. She is survived by her son Dan Young (wife Patty), daughters Joan Young and Jean Haduca (husband Boni), grandchildren Marcie Haduca, Jon Haduca (wife Menisha), Kristen Haduca, Baylee Young, Melanee Young, Hunter Young and great grandchildren Asher and Gavan Young-Norman. She was preceded in death by her husband John H. Young and son Jeffrey Douglas Young. Marie's intelligence and kind remarks will be missed by all of her family and friends.
