Obituary of Marlene June Lovell

Please share a memory of Marlene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On July 1, 2014, Marlene Lovell entered into rest; surrounded by her closest loved ones, she left behind a legacy that touched many. Born in Salinas in 1940 and raised in Moss Landing, Marlene learned early the characteristics that would shape her adult life- her admirable work ethic second only to her kindness and care; her humor only matched by her strength. Overlooking her garden as she passed, Marlene took pride as a natural landscaper in her outdoor masterpiece. Throughout life she also took great gratification in her work as a caretaker, devoting herself to be there for those in need of help. Marlene also loved her animals, and enjoyed spending time with her loving family. She is preceded in death by her husband Clarence Lovell Sr.; her sons, Edward Lovell Sr. and James Lovell; her sister, Ruth Brown; her brothers, Harold and Fred Bailey and her parents, Ralph Bailey and Earlene Smith. She is survived by her sons, Gary, Clarence Jr., and Guy Lovell; her daughters, Barbara Silva and Linda Perez; her sisters, Rosalie Jerich, Becky Reyes, Karen Valero, Ramona Sims and Marilyn Pearson, as well as 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Her presence will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, July 7th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Oakwood Memorial Chapel, 3301 Paul Sweet Road. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 8th at 11am at Oakwood Memorial Chapel with graveside services to follow at Pioneer Cemetery in Watsonville.
