"Big Luke" One of my fondest memories was the storm of 1983 and a Peterbilt Dump truck was stuck in the Goodrich driveway which was a muddy mess,to say the least. Big Luke called my father Ron Billington for a little help, dad said no problem, be up in a bit. After plowing through mud slide after mud slide dad finally got there in the Land cruiser and easily pulled that dump truck all the way up and out of the drive way back onto Bear Creek Rd. I remember this because Big Luke and my father were best of bud's and would help out each other no matter what the problem. Big Luke and my father are probably having a grand old time fish'n and having a beer together laughing about the good ole days. I strive every day to be a better human being by following Big Luke and my father's example of living. Big Luke, rest in peace...
My condolences, Vern Billington

I didn't see Luke after he retired and was sad to hear of his illness and passing. Like many new fireighters, he was assigned to station three where I worked. We answered many calls together, big and small fires. He was always enjoyable to be with and as a dependable team member. I'm very sorry for your loss.

I am so glad to have gotten to know Luke even though it was during the last few years of his life. I'm so happy he got to see his newest grandson. Such a cheerful person always ready with something nice to say or a funny story to tell, he will be missed. My sincerest condolences to his family.

We at the Allstate office are very sad to hear about Luke's passing. Luke would always come in yearly to meet with me or Gayle and talk about the family, his hobbies and his poker group. Please know it was a sad week at our office knowing we won't see Luke again :( I truly will miss my yearly meetings in March with Luke. Blessings to the family, Kathy Kinney, Gayle Dattilo and Jim Kinney.

Sending you all of my love as we grieve Luke's passing. My memories of Luke will give me great comfort, and, also provide a giggle or two when I think of him. I always felt his love through his teasing ways, his elaborate story telling, sending me postcards while on his trek on the Appalachian Trail (signed "Firewalker") and his making me always feel like a part of the family since I was eight years old. Even through his battle with Cancer, he maintained such an incredible attitude, his humor and beautiful smile. I will miss him.

To Luke's family,
I have fond memories of being a young firefighter and working for your dad. I remember thinking that I would someday like to be like him in my career. I'm glad I got to meet both of his "kids" at the gym and I am sorry for your loss. John Laurent
