Obituary of Maria Luisa Guzman

Maria Luisa Guzman was born April 21, 1942. She passed away surrounded by her loving children on June 17th 2014 of natural causes at the age of 72. She was born in Mexico City to her proud parents Vicente and Maria Espinosa. Maria lived in a variety of places, most notably Acuna Mexico, Del Rio Texas and settled to raise her family in Santa Cruz, California. She was a loving mother to her four children. She is survived by her sons Luis Guzman Moreno, Margarito Guzman Jr., daughters Claudia Guzman and Maria Angelica Martinez as well as her daughter-in-laws Rose Calderon Moreno, Jennifer Guzman and Son-in-law Jesse Martinez whom were like her own. She was the proud Grandmother of nine beautiful children as well as a Great grandmother. Maria was a vibrant, hard working, family oriented sharp business woman. She successfully owned and operated Rancho Maria's Restaurants along with her late husband Margarito Guzman, to whom she was happily married for 20 years. Maria Luisa enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a wonderful dance partner, a great cook and she was full of laughter and love. She never faltered in helping those in need, believed in second chances and always spoke her truth. She will be greatly missed by those who were lucky enough to know and love her. Please join us in honoring the life of Maria Luisa Guzman on Thursday, June 26th 2014 at Santa Cruz Memorial Chapel, 1927 Ocean Street, Santa Cruz at 2:00 in the afternoon, a potluck at Harvey West Park will follow the service.
