Obituary of Richard Louis Stautz

Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Rick was born in Los Angeles, California in 1953. He and his older sister, Dayle, were raised by their parents Herb and Frances Stautz. A wild child at heart, he had many adventures as a teenager in the city, including local fame for building a "man-cave" under the freeway overpass complete with electricity for a radio, games, and comic books. He moved to Santa Cruz in his 20's where he and his first wife, E. Suzanne Phillips, had their daughter Ricki Lee Stautz in 1986. They raised her in the Santa Cruz Mountains. He married Vindy Chandra in 1997 and they had his second daughter, Asia Mei Stautz, in 1998. His passion for the rock and roll lifestyle persisted and he shared this love with his daughters by playing records of Jethro Tull, Cat Stevens, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, and the Beatles. He loved taking his three girls on road trips on his Harley and bringing them to concerts of his favorite artists. Rick travelled the world; snorkeling through the warm waters of Mexico as a young bachelor and venturing through the temples and markets of Asia with his wife and children. He loved art, his walls decorated with music posters and local paintings, and made a hobby of creating his own masterpieces out of l.e.d. lights and found objects from the beach and Santa Cruz Flea Market; always using his engineering abilities and creative mind to express himself. He worked in telecommunications for over 30 years, dedicated to providing a beautiful life for his family. Rick's friendships were meaningful, enduring, and profound, as his unconditional love, loyalty, and humor brightened the lives of many. He is survived by his wife, Vindy, his two daughters, Ricki Lee and Asia Mei, and his sister, Dayle. His compassionate acceptance of their depth and persistent faith in their success will withstand time. "At the hour of death, when we come face-to-face with God, we are going to be judged on love…" -Mother Teresa. Rick's service will be held at Felton Community hall in Felton, Ca. on June 21'st at 3 p.m. The family is seeking financial contributions for the services. Donations can be made on PayPal (paypal.com, "send money" tab, enter [email protected] as recipient, select "family/friends"). Checks can be sent to 14 Summit ave, Felton, California, 95018
