Obituary of Jan Phyllis Ward

Please share a memory of Jan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jan migrated with her parents from and brothers (Reni and Roger) from Brussels, Belgium to Southern California in 1927. She grew up in West L.A. and attended La Ballona School and UCLA. Her brothers enlisted in the Navy during World War II and Jan did "Secret Clearance" work for the Navy. She also worked for Howard Hughes Aircraft, painting Radium on the navigation dials for the B-19 and B-52 bombers. Jan moved to San Jose in the 60s where she met and married her husband. While living in San Jose, Jan was the purchasing agent for the Falstaff Brewing Co. She also managed the Princeton Plaza Mall for 15 years prior to her retirement in 1990. Jan lived the rest of her life in Santa Cruz. She was always involved with her neighbors to beautify the neighborhood, paving their alley and putting up retaining walls and outside security lighting. Her biggest contribution was her donation to build the lighthouse at the harbor. Jan is survived by her husband of 49 years, Edward L. Ward. No services are being held.
