Obituary of Lucy Lee Graef

Lucy Graef went peacefully to her heavenly home on Tuesday, May 13th after suffering from a heart attack a week earlier. She touched many lives throughout her 93 years. Lucy was born in St. Joseph, MO to Joseph and Rosa Lee Baldridge. She eventually moved to San Diego where she raised her two children, Thomas and Eleanor, and considered that her home. She was employed for many years as a bookkeeper. She married Carl Graef in 1980 and moved to Oak Tree Villa in Scotts Valley in 2004, but remained a loyal Padres fan to the end. She is survived by her 100 year old husband, Carl Graef of Scotts Valley; her daughter, Eleanor (Sami) Fullford of Jacksonville, FL; and Carl's children, Clayton (Pat) Graef of Santa Maria, Lois (Kevin) Mattson of Oceanside and Cheryl (Rick) Hill of Scotts Valley. She and Carl shared 16 grandchildren including Brian of Florida, Jessica, Sherry, Robin, Bryan, Daniel, Joshua, Jeremy, Jonathan, Cindi, Christa, and Rachel of California, Will of Alaska, Tom Jr., Sharilynn and Laura of Washington state and many nieces and nephews. In addition she leaves behind 35 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Thomas William Bush, her parents, sister and brother. She was a strong woman who persevered through deafness and loss of sight from Macular Degeneration. She brought laughter to our family with her dry sense of humor and her independent spirit. The family especially thanks her friends and the staff at Oak Tree Villa and her physician, Dr. Diane McGrew who were so kind and helpful to her during the past 10 years and her 2 granddaughters, Cindi and Christa for extraordinary care while in the hospital several times. Services will be held at a later date.
