Obituary of Edward Worthington

Please share a memory of Edward to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Edward (Ned) Worthington, of Santa Cruz, died on March 14, 2014 at his home. He was born on May 15, 1956 in San Francisco, greatly loved son of Edward and Joyce Worthington of Palo Alto. Ned attended Walter Hays, Jordan and Palo Alto High Schools during the family's years there. Ned's friends of those years still meet together yearly. Ned received his teaching credential at the University of California, Santa Cruz, majoring in History 27 years ago. For the past 21 years he has been on the faculty of Soquel High School in Santa Cruz. Ned married Elena Freeman and they had a wonderful son, Daniel, who now lives and works in Seattle, Washington. Ned was an athlete; tennis was his main game, but he was also an avid cyclist, hiker and swimmer. He had a great love of gardening and had raised beds at his home and shared city plots. Ned was vibrant, loved life and friends and family around him. His sister, Laurie Worthington Wood, preceded him in death. Surviving is his son, Daniel Worthington, his mother Joyce Aoyagi, of Santa Cruz, his sister Anne Worthington of Santa Fe. N.M., niece Katherine Wood of Providence, R.I., and his long time loving friend, Jeanette Leglu of Santa Cruz. We all miss him so much, his support, his vigor, his presence. Our love for him is forever. A memorial for Ned will be held in mid May. Please visit nedworthington.com for further information regarding the memorial.
