Obituary of Roberta Lorrayne Lane

Services will be held Saturday for Roberta "Lorrayne" Lane who passed away suddenly on February 2nd. She was 83. Lorrayne was born and raised in Santa Cruz, and graduated from Santa Cruz High in 1948. She was a member of Theta Rho and Isabella Rebekah Lodge #17 Santa Cruz. During her lifetime Lorrayne worked at several Santa Cruz area businesses including Horsnyder's and Woolworth's soda fountains, Ingall's and Stokley Canneries, Sylvania Electronics, Watkins-Johnsons in Scotts Valley, Felton Storage and Ben Lomond Econo-lodge. In recent years she has served on the SLV Senior Center board and hostess for the monthly breakfasts. Lorrayne (Sassy) and her husband Albert (Big Dad) loved to vacation in Molokai. In 1994 they moved to Molokai where they lived for 2+ years. Lorrayne is survived by her children Sharon Burgess, Buzz Lane (Kim), Karen Lane and Steve Lane (Deborah); Grandchildren and their spouses, April Metcalf, James Weaver, Jessica Moore and Nick Burgess, 8 Great grandsons, her sister Frances Day and twin brother Wayne Thornton. Lorrayne was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Albert "Al" Lane, brother Jim Merlin Thornton and sister Ruby Carter. Services will be held on Saturday February 8th , 2:00 p.m. at Santa Cruz Memorial Mission Mausoleum, 1927 Ocean St., Santa Cruz. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations in Lorrayne's memory be made to SLV Senior Center, P.O.
