Obituary of Pasquale Mennite

The family of Pasquale Mennite said goodbye to him on November 29, 2013, at the Hearts and Hands care home in Santa Cruz. He passed away peacefully at the age of 92, surrounded by family and friends. His wife Maria Teresa preceded him in death on July 6, 2007. Born and brought up in Satriano, Catanzaro, Italy, Pasquale owned and operated a successful agricultural business until he moved his family to New York in 1975. He was employed in masonry there for a number of years. In 1990, he and his wife settled in Santa Cruz, where several of their children were living. Pasquale is survived by his four sons and four daughters and their spouses, Antonio and Patty, Dominick and Jan, Teddy and Barbara, Joe and Audrey, Maria and Walter, Cathy and Jerry, Connie, Rose and David, twelve grandchildren, Wally, Melissa, Bridgit, Mark, Nathan, David, Melody, Matthew, Candice, Cory, Joey, and Mary, and five great-grandchildren, Isaac, Savannah, Ruby, Ramona, and Charlotte. Pasquale loved music and sang and played guitar and harmonica for family and friends. He also enjoyed wood carving, painting, drawing, fishing, gardening, and savoring a good glass of vino rosso. He loved each member of his large family and demonstrated it in many ways. He was generous, honest, hard-working, deeply caring, and attentive to his children and in-laws alike and to his grands and greats. He always seemed to have an extra picture of Jackson to slip into the hands of visiting family as they left. It was one of his ways of letting them know how special they were to him and how much he enjoyed them. Most of all, Pasquale wanted folks to know that he loved God and that he wanted his family and others to know his blessings, too. Our dear Papa Mennite is greatly loved and missed by his family and by all who had the privilege of knowing him. A service in his honor will be held at Santa Cruz Memorial Mission Chapel on Friday, December 6th, at 11:00 a.m.
