Edith Haslam April 14, 1921 - September 28, 2013 Longtime Resident of Santa Cruz County Edith Haslam, born in Yedingham, England, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2013, with her family by her side. Edith met and married her husband John Haslam, a Santa Cruz native, during World War II and moved here in 1946. They owned and operated Haslam's Dry Cleaners in Santa Cruz, and she resided in Santa Cruz, Boulder Creek, and Scotts Valley. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and cooking wonderful meals, and she also enjoyed playing golf and bridge, oil painting, and tending to her beautiful garden. We will greatly miss our wonderful mother and grandmother, who so wisely, courageously, and generously guided and loved our family. She is survived by her two daughters: Victoria Haslam-Bowman and husband Jim of Santa Cruz; Deborah Belville and husband Shannon of Scotts Valley; her two granddaughters: Courtney Skinner and husband Todd of Scotts Valley and Kindra Belville of San Jose; and her three great-grandchildren: Claire, Isaac and David Skinner. In Yorkshire, England, she is survived by her sister Hilda Hart and brothers Leonard Jackson and Colin Jackson. She was preceded in death by her husband John Haslam of Boulder Creek; her sister Ruth Andrew and brothers Herbert Jackson and Thomas Jackson of Yorkshire, England. A memorial celebration of her life will be held at a time and place to be announced. For memorial information, please contact Victoria at (831) 475-3583. Donations in Edith's memory can be made to the Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund at: www.heartlandhospicefund.org or to the Highlands Park Senior Center, 8500 Highway 9, Ben Lomond, CA 95005.
