Obituary of Alva Bell Hamilton

Alva Bell Hamilton, resident of Scotts Valley, passes away peacefully in Santa Cruz on Monday, August 12, 2013 at the age of 93. Alva was born in Clarksville, Tennessee on July 24, 1920 to Ed and Nellie York. During her life she lived in Denver, Colorado and spent the last 44 years in California in the cities of Aptos, Santa Cruz, and Scotts Valley. She attended dental school and worked as a medical secretary for several years. Alva enjoyed playing Bridge and other games, taking walks on the beach, listening to music and watching musicals. Alva is survived by her daughters, Barbara Stearns and Lee Taylor; her grandchildren, Brian and Jill Stearns, Zoe and Zach Taylor, and Lynn Fasone; and her great-grandchildren, Zianna Young, Conner and Jack Stearns, and Anthony Fasone. She was preceded in death by her husband, George R. Hamilton M.D., in 1995 and her son, Buford Eugene Wilson in 2005. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Aptos Beach near the Rio Del Mar flats.
