Obituary of Marjorie Irene Corsetto

Marjorie/Marilyn Corsetto passed away peacefully at her home in Folsom, CA on July 16, 2013 at the age of 90. Marilyn was born to Kathryn and William Blackstock on October 10, 1922 in Pittsburgh, PA, the third of six girls. Her family resettled in Los Angeles County when she was 3 years old. She graduated from Alhambra high school in 1940 and later worked in the shipyards and as a USO hostess during World War II. Marilyn met her husband, Jay, at a dance and married six months later on August 5, 1951. They settled in San Gabriel and had four children. In 1960, they moved to Aptos, where Marilyn began her 40 year membership with Aptos United Methodist Church. Marilyn loved children, teaching and caring for them both in the church and in her home until the age of 80. In 2008, Marilyn and Jay moved to Folsom, CA to be closer to their daughter, Candace. Jay and Marilyn were married for 59 years when he passed away in 2010. Marilyn loved to dance and laugh. She was a devoted wife, mother and friend. She enjoyed summer family vacations at Lake Tahoe, and spending time with her 6 grandchildren. She loved God, people and her country. Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Candace Hendrickson (George) and sons Craig Corsetto (Sharyl), Gregory Corsetto (Pam) and Jeffery Corsetto. Marilyn is also survived by her sister Patricia Mukai as well as her grandchildren Danielle and Brent Corsetto, Michael and Lisa Corsetto, and Alex and Kirsten Hendrickson. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 17 at 11:00 am at Aptos Community United Methodist Church, 221 Thunderbird Drive, Aptos. A viewing will be held on Saturday, August 17 from 2:00-2:30 pm at Oakwood Memorial Park, 3301 Paul Sweet Road, Santa Cruz. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Aptos UMC Memorial/Celebration Garden in honor of Marilyn Corsetto would be greatly appreciated. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Mercy Hospice and Senior Home Care Services for their support in her final days.
