Obituary of Betty Ruth Johnson

Betty "Becky" Ruth Johnson, 83, passed away from heart failure in Santa Cruz on Sunday, July 14, 2013. A native of Bakersfield, she graduated from Kern County Union High School and later attended Cabrillo College. She has lived in Ben Lomond since 1961. Becky is survived by her two sons, Frank Daryl and John Michael Johnson, both of Ben Lomond, her two sisters, Doris Mack of Bakersfield and Judy (Rick) White of Port Angeles, WA, her nephew Stephen Erbe of Wigby Island, WA and one grandchild. Becky worked at Western Union, Wrigleys (where she was the pitcher for their softball team) and Watkins-Johnson. She was also a powderpuff mechanic, and enjoyed sailing, shorthand, playing bridge, bowling and was a sports announcer for Pony League baseball. She was a member of her local bridge club and loved volunteering at local Senior Centers. Memorial services will be held at Santa Cruz Memorial, 1927 Ocean Street, on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. A reception will follow.
