Obituary of Marsha L. Stevens

Please share a memory of Marsha to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marsha L. Stevens of Felton, Santa Cruz County, California, passed away in her sleep on Saturday June 29th, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the afternoon following a prolonged battle with cancer. Marsha was born in Oakland and lived in Richmond California in her formative years where she attended Juan Crespi Junior high-school, and DeAnza High-school. The family enjoyed camping and fishing where Marsha developed her appreciation of the outdoors. After meeting the love of her life, Frederick Stevens, she lived for a short time in Minnesota as they planned for their future. The devoted couple moved to Felton in 1991 settling in Zayante/Lompico where they found the cool tranquility of the Redwoods a source of solace and refuge. Marsha was very fond of animals having kept up to three cats at a time and was attached to her devoted dog Nikki. They were fond of taking long walks along the creeks and trails of the San Lorenzo Valley. Her caring nature lead her into many health care services including the Oak Tree Villa assisted living residence, veterinary offices, and Santa Cruz Ear Nose and Throat where she ran the front office for many years. Marsha enjoyed photography, bird watching, wine tasting, and was a fan of the Detroit Lion's but also made time to watch the Raiders and 49ers. Marsha was known to all who knew her as uncompromising and a good person; she expected the best from herself and from others. She was devoted to her physical fitness and her indomitable spirit and determination was never more evident than in her nine year battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband Frederick and a large extended family. In lieu of flowers, she would have wanted people to make memorial contributions in her name to some of her favorite charities which were Hospice of Santa Cruz County, SPCA, Make-A-Wish Foundation and of course the American Cancer Society.
