Obituary of Amie Christine Tury

Chris was a lover of life. As a child she always had a smile on her face and contagious laugh. Her love of travel began with family driving vacations and continued throughout her life. She traveled the world from New Zealand to Hungary and all over the United States. Chris graduated from Illinois State University with degrees in psychology and accounting. She worked as a corporate accountant for McDonald's Corporation for many years, moving on to become the CFO of NHS in Santa Cruz and Choreographer of Human Energy! In recent years she was a participant in the research of a breakthrough medicine that gives new hope to breast cancer patients. She was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and unfortunately never got to see them in a world series, but true Cubs fans know there is always next year! She loved all kinds of music from Jimmy Buffet to Broadway musicals and could often be seen dancing on the beach or in the living room. She loved cooking, gardening, and entertaining with her friends and family. The daughter of Frend and Lorraine Yonkers, Chris was born in Chicago and grew up in Arlington Heights, Illinois. She is survived by her beloved husband John Tury, her sister Stephanie Yonkers and her niece, Emma. Memorial Services will be held at 10 a.m. on May 18, 2013 at United Methodist Church of Santa Cruz, 250 California St. Santa Cruz, CA 95060. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Chris' name to O'Neill Sea Odyssey's ocean education program at www.oneillseaodyssey.org .
