Services will be Friday, April 12th for Nellann "Anne" Holt, 80, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, March 30, 2013 in Santa Cruz after a short battle with lung cancer. Anne is survived by her three children and their spouses, Cindy Mercer (Rick), Suzie Bargetto (Jim), and Linda Ronning (Mitch). She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Allison, Amy, Joe, Sarah, Kylie, and Emma, her two sisters and brother-in-laws, Jane and Paul Bartholow and Mary and Jeri Craig and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Vida Reitz. A native of Kansas City, Missouri, she attended local schools and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Kansas University. After graduation from college, she worked at Hallmark designing greeting cards. As a talented artist she continued as an illustrator for children's books and also enjoyed painting in watercolors and oils. With her former husband, William Holt in the Air Force, it brought them to Sacramento. She then spent the past 43 years in Santa Cruz County. She had a love for family and animals, from fish to coyotes; she loved to have them in her life. They brought her deep joy. She also enjoyed her time as a volunteer at Dominican Hospital as a "pink lady". A memorial service celebrating Anne's life will be held Friday April 12, 10:00 a.m. at Santa Cruz Memorial - Oakwood Chapel 3301 Paul Sweet Road, Santa Cruz, CA 95065. A reception will follow at the home of Suzie and Jim Bargetto. Anne's family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation to the nurses and staff at Santa Cruz Skilled Nursing Facility, her devoted caregivers. In lieu of flowers, donations, in Anne's memory, can be made to Heartland Hospice Care, 2511 Garden Road, Suite 250A, Monterey, CA 93940.
