Dear Kathleen and family,
My prayers are with you at this sad time.
I remember meeting Greg at the Cooper House all those years ago. Yes, it's so true, he was such a sweet and generous man. His photo says it all.
I'm sure he is looking after you like my Jim does for me.
Love, June Smith

Our first memory of Greg was when Kathleen met him at the Cooper House, and they first started dating. (That was when I fell in love with Chardonnay.) They were in love from the start, & we rejoiced as they exchanged vows and realized their dreams over the years. Our friendship included celebrating milestones, the birth of our kids, July 4th parties, birthday parties, Sarah's Engagement Party, the Santa Cruz County Fair watching Sarah show her 4-H lambs, & pool parties were the best. Some of our favorite times were at Zayante Vineyard's Wine Tastings with Sarah, our oldest, supervising Marc, our youngest, who was born the same year as Andrew, their beloved son, and later beautiful daughter, Maggie. We were so touched that they came to Sarah's wedding in Arizona on 4/8/06. Such a magical time to share with our good friends. We marveled at Greg's ability to make the best Chardonnay, Syrah, Petite Syrah & Zinfandel, to name some of our favorites. He dry farmed his vines, an old world method & loved farming. Greg was a skilled Vintner, & we could usually find him on a tractor or working in the vineyard. We watched him entertain and pour for people coming to tastings. He had so much knowledge to share and always had that twinkle in his eye as he spoke with everyone there. Ed introduced Greg to Duck Hunting, which he absolutely loved. One of Ed's favorite memories was toasting with Greg & enjoying Greg's Syrah, sharing snacks following a successful hunt, after equipment was loaded & ready to bring in from the blind. Forever memories in our hearts. Rest in Peace our dear friend. Heaven has gained another angel, & you are sorely missed. Much Love you Kathi, Maggie & Joshua.
Always, Bonnie & Ed

Too bad we can't plant that twinkle of Greg's eye, but a tree can keep the beauty of his soul alive for a long, long time. I like the thought of that. Plant a Tree
