Lawrence Brice Quigley “Larry,” passed away at his home in the Pleasure Point area of Santa Cruz, CA on June 18, 2024. Born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1943, Larry was 80 years old and a proud resident of Santa Cruz for the past 55 years.
Larry had strong ties to the surfing community and is known to all for his quiet, humble generosity. He worked in construction over 50 years and established himself as a meticulous master carpenter. When not pounding nails, Larry could be found manning the b-b-q and regaling all with his bigger-than-life tales of the good old days.
Larry is survived by his partner of 30 years, Joyce Christopher and her daughters Monika Christopher and Chelsea Christopher; his daughter, Feliz (Quigley) Steele and her husband, Michael Steele; his son Benjamen Quigley and his wife, Grace Quigley; his sons David Brice Quigley and Doyle La Mountain; and, his beloved sisters, Jane Anderson and Diane Mackerley. He also leaves behind four grandchildren: Madison Steele, Ryan Steele, Thea Quigley and Bianca Quigley.
To honor Larry’s lifetime of adventures, contribution to his community and his own personal brand of unique shenanigans we have all come to love, there will be a celebration of life to follow at his home on July 27, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, and in honor of Larry’s generous spirit, the family asks that you perform an act of kindness.
