Ascencion Pulido “Chon” Saldaña, 90 of Santa Cruz, CA passed away on June 3, 2024 in Santa Cruz, CA. Funeral services will be held at Santa Cruz Memorial on June 14, 2024 at 11am. Private burial to follow at a later date.
Ascencion was born in San Francisco de Rincon, Guanajuato, Mexico to Ascencion and Franscica Saldaña on September 13, 1933. He retired from Salz Tannery after over 20 years of service. He was a devote Jehovah Witness. He was proud to become a US citizen in the 1990’s. He enjoyed working in his garden, going out to eat with family, listening to music, being the “candy man” and hanging out with his family.
He is survived by this wife of 54 years, Mary Saldaña of Santa Cruz, daughters Ruth Gloria of Modesto, CA, Melinda Saldaña of Royal Oaks, CA, step daughter Rosie Molfino of Soquel, CA. Sons Ascencion Saldaña of Modesto, Mark Saldaña of Portland, OR, and step son David Arenas, of Santa Cruz. And several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by sons Ismael Saldaña, Mario Saldaña, and step daughter Patty Nunez.
