Obituary of Nicolas Laron Vargas

A Memorial Service for Nicolas “Nick” Laron Vargas will be held Friday, October 20, 2023, at Oakwood Memorial Crystal Chapel, 3301 Paul Sweet Road, Santa Cruz at One O’clock in the Afternoon. Family and friends, We come together today to remember and celebrate the life of my little brother, Nicolas Laron Vargas. To say that Nick will be missed is an understatement. His presence, his laughter, and his boundless love were gifts to us all – and Jeriah will be an everlasting testament to what he valued most: family. My brother grew up surrounded by love, laughter, friendship, and the ever-present support of his mother and siblings. Everyone he called family shared a bond with him that was unique and will be cherished for years to come. The shared adventures and memories are countless and will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him best. His relationship with Cristina was a testament to his big heart. And though their time together might have seemed short to some, it was deep, meaningful, and full of the moments that make life worth living. His greatest joy came in the form of their little boy, Jeriah, who brought sunshine to his life every single day. Fatherhood looked good on my brother. I was so proud of the man he was becoming. Every time Nick spoke of his son, his big and beautiful smile would emerge, and you could feel the depth of his love and pride for that little boy. Though Jeriah may only be turning one this month, the lessons, memories, and moments they shared will be a guiding light for him as he grows. Jeriah will, without question, know just how much his father loved him and he will carry forward Nick’s legacy of love, laughter and light. To know Nick was to know his beautiful smile, his infectious laugh, and his huge heart – he had a big head, we all know that, but his heart was even bigger. His sense of humor knew no bounds, but then again so did his love for friends and family. It would come in the form of his genuine, unfiltered advice and commentary. It would come in the form of a random call in the middle of a workday to share his latest idea to make money – I know many of us got a lot of those calls. But it would also come in the form of him dropping everything he was doing to be there for you when it mattered most. He had a way of making those around him feel seen and heard, always coming from a place of authentic and unending love. It was clear to anyone who knew him that his heart was always bigger than his hurt. One of Nick’s greatest passions was music. He developed a massive second family through this creative community. Rapping wasn't just a hobby for him; it was an extension of him, a way for him to express himself and heal. Through his songs, he found joy, release, and a way to share his energy and spirit with the world. In remembering Nicolas today, let us not focus on the void left behind but on the countless memories, lessons, and love he shared with us all. His legacy is not just in the songs he left behind or the stories we share but in the way he made each of us feel: cherished, loved, and important. As we bid farewell to Nicolas, let us remember the words he lived by: "Family, Fatherhood, Faith." In doing so, let's honor his memory by loving deeply, laughing often, and living fully.
