Barbara Mae Reid Obituary

Barbara Mae Reid passed away on May 15, 2023. She was born on December 4, 1928, to Juan and Evelyn Alcade in Oakland, California. She was raised in Alameda County and lived in Oakland, Watsonville, Santa Cruz, and Hollister throughout her life.


Barb attended McKinley Grammar School and San Leandro High School. Afterwards she worked at Wells Fargo Bank and Hollister Cannery.


Barb was married to Fred L. Reid who proceeded her in death in February 1992. In addition, she is proceeded in death by her parents Juan and Evelyn Alcalde, twin brother and sister Juan Alcalde and Juanita Fisher and grandson, Jamie Reid.


She is survived by her children Scott Reid (Ruth Reid), Joyce Hughes (Jim Hughes), Mark Reid (Denise Reid), and Chris Reid (Erica Reid). Nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, brother-in-law Norman Reid and two sisters Carol Reilly and Lynn Apply.


She was a member of Eastern Star for 50 years and in her spare time she loved to paint and draw. Barb was a devoted attendee Twin Lakes Baptist Church for many years.


Graveside services were held on Friday, June 2, 2023, at Oakwood Memorial Park, 3301 Paul Sweet Road, Santa Cruz.
