Obituary of Gale Marie Petti

Please share a memory of Gale to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gale Marie Petti, was born during a hurricane, in Hillside, New Jersey to Mary (Travers) and Anthony Petti on Nov. 25, 1950. Her parents named her after the wind. As a child, one of Gale’s favorite activities was visiting her Italian grandparents, who immigrated to New Jersey from the Naples area in the early 1900’s. Gale loved her grandmother Raffaela’s cooking, and her grandmother loved Gale’s appetite! She cooked with love, Gale said of her beloved grandmother. Another special time for Gale as a child was visiting her Portuguese Grandmother in Westport, Massachusetts. Every summer the family would go to her farm. One of her favorite memories was collecting worms for her Daddy and going fishing with him on Saturdays. She remembers laughing endlessly when her dad recited silly nursery rhymes. As a teen, Gale fell in love with the Rock N’ Roll music of the late 1960’s. With a few friends, she’d venture into New York City and attend music performances. She saw some of the biggest names of the time during their debuts!--The Beatles, The Doors, The Who, Procal Harum, Cream, and Stevie Winwood and Traffic–just to name a few! A fun story she told was racing around to the back of the building after a Doors concert, slipping into the roped off area where Jim Morrison was exiting from the show. She walked up to him and kissed him on the cheek, then walked away, blending into the crowd! Gale also attended Woodstock in 1969; she lived the unforgettable moment of waking up to Jimi Hendricks playing the star spangled banner! Throughout the 70’s, Gale followed Maharishi and became a teacher of Transcendental Meditation. She took many trips to Europe and taught others these techniques. She was proud of a 10 year streak meditating 3 times a day! Her spiritual interests grew over her whole life and included the teachings of Jesus, Native American Spirituality, Hindu teachings, A Course in Miracles, Archangel Michael, and Tibetan Bonism. Gale was a spiritual seeker and learned many healing modalities to help people connect with their hearts and heal their bodies. Through it all, Gale always deeply believed in the healing power of Love. In 1995, Gale graduated from Cabrillo College with a degree in accounting, and worked for several local businesses keeping their books. In 2000, she bought her first home. Gale celebrated turning 50 in style when she attended almost every concert of ACDC’s American tour in 2001. Being the gentle, heartfelt free spirit that she is, she ended up befriending the band. In the 2010’s, Gale moved back East to care for her mother. While there, she was introduced to the Rhys Thomas Institute of Energy Medicine. She made dear friends in her program, and became skilled in various energetic modalities. Her work through the school brought her great joy. She loved reading, and always had a mystery novel from the library in her purse. She probably read several thousand books! She had a sharp mind for figuring out clues and loved jigsaw puzzles. Gale was the kind of person that hopped in the car with you just to go along for the adventure. She was an easy-going, gentle woman with a huge heart and a free spirit who was always ready to help a friend or give to someone else or share a heartfelt compliment. Gale is forever loved. She is survived by 4 children, 5 grandchildren, and 3 sisters. This obituary marks her 1 year passing.
