Sonia O'Brien passed away at Watsonville Community Hospital, on Friday, July 24, 2026. She is survived by her husband, Paul O'Brien, and her four children, France, Nathalie, Stéphane, Daniel, seven grand-children and four great-grandchildren.

Sonia was born in Montreal, in the province of Quebec, Canada September 21, 1947. She enjoyed traveling with her family and motorcycling with her husband, discovering wonderful places off beaten paths.

Sonia's special gifts were her smile, laughter and childlike wonderment when creating special moments for the people who surrounded her and helping them in their hardships. She volunteered her time and gifts with the elderly, middle-aged and children, making them feel happy and unique, especially with her seasonal costumes and surprise-distributing traditions.

She gave of herself by volunteering at various organizations such as Valley Church United's Food Pantry, Jacob's Heart Cancer Support and Ride for Kids for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.

Although Sonia will be greatly missed by her whole family, immediate and extended, we take comfort in knowing that she lived a good life, filled with laughter, special moments and charity.

We pray that God welcomes her in his loving arms for eternity.

Friends and family are invited to the funeral mass, at 11:00 AM, followed by a reception, at St. John Catholic Church on Saturday, August 8, 2026. St. John church is located at 120 Russell Avenue in Felton, off of Highway 9.
