John Henry McGuire Obituary
Born in Los Angeles on August 6th 1940 to Olga and John Edward McGuire. He spent his early years in San Francisco until his family relocated to Santa Cruz in 1953.
John was an avid surfer at Cowells and Sunny Cove. He graduated from Santa Cruz High in 1958. John joined the Army National Guard in 1963 while earning a degree in Civil Engineering from San Jose State.
It was a sunny day on the main beach of Santa Cruz that John met Carol James who would become his wife of nearly sixty years. Aptos became home for the couple and their two children Justin and Kara.
Johns professional life was one of public service and local water management for Santa Cruz, Scotts Valley and Watsonville. After retirement John worked as a computer consultant for the volunteer center of Santa Cruz.
John and Carol loved to travel with Europe being a favorite destination. Invention and innovation were also a favorite pastime. Above all Johns greatest joy was his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife Carol, his children Justin, Kara (Peter), Noelle (David)and his spirit lives on in his grandchildren Marlowe, Blake, Natalie and Olivia.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
