Ami Delcorps Davis lived a life of purpose; devoted to her family, committed to self-actualization, and passionate about making art relevant and accessible to all audiences. She was born on December 7th, 1976 to Robert and Antoinette Davis in Sunnyvale, California, and passed on June 19, 2026, age 49, at her home in Santa Cruz, California.

Ami loved all types of artistic expression and saw clearly their interrelation. From the canon of fine art to pop-cultural products to the most avant-garde works, she approached it all with a critic's eye, a keen sense of humor, and a drive to help others experience meaningful connections with art, and through it connect to one another and to history.

She began her arts career early, as the art editor and a cartoonist for her middle school, high school, and community college newspapers. She studied Art History at De Anza College before earning a BA in Art History from UCSC and a Master of Arts in Art History from SJSU, with her thesis advocating for the inclusion of kitsch in the assessment of postmodern visual culture.

She went on to teach Art History at UCLA, lecture extensively and write numerous articles on contemporary art, art education and museum management. In her museum career, Ami brought insight, innovation, and inspired leadership to institutions large and small across the state of California, including the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, the Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History, the San José, Orange County, and Monterey Museums of Art, and as Executive Director of the New Museum Los Gatos. She was a respected colleague whose contributions to her field exemplified how one person's all-too-short life can enrich the lives of many others for years to come.

Her work eventually evolved from museum leadership to that of a sought-after advisor and mentor with the founding of her own consultancy. Through Ami Davis Consulting, she became known for balancing pragmatic guidance with creative initiatives to inspire staff and boards, strengthen supporter engagement, and help each unique organization flourish on its path to growth and sustainability.

Beyond Ami's professional achievements, she treasured her partnership to her beloved and best friend Ken Moodie and being a devoted mother to their son Calvin. Together with them, she relished the joys of their home, travel, live music, the beauty of nature, and cracking wise while watching old B-movies.

She was a cherished friend who will be remembered for her strong sense of personal style, her sparkling personality and for constantly challenging herself to gain knowledge, learn new skills and improve herself and the world around her. As she had hoped, she left this universe in a better state for having been a part of it.

In addition to husband Ken and son Calvin, Ami is survived by her mother Antoinette Davis, brothers Erick and Jason Davis (Cindie Davis), aunt and uncle Arlene and Hank Remmers, cousins Chris Remmers and Heidi Remmers (Dan Ambrogio), mother-in-law Kathleen Hilger, and aunt-in-law Kris Beall.
