Marjorie “Karen” Bonnie passed away peacefully and pain free at her home on June 5, 2026 in Scotts Valley, CA, holding her son’s hand.

Karen was born in Tacoma, Washington, and spent her earl years living on the family farm. When she was a senior in high school her family moved to San Jose. After graduating high school Karen was very happy to attend nursing school at Santa Clara County Hospital. She married John Bonnie in 1952, and became a proud Registered Nurse in 1953.

Karen’s nursing career started after June 1953, and years later she achieved her Master’s Degree in Health Science. Her love of nursing took her to the Red Cross where she retired after 25 years, which included a prestigious position as the Director of Disaster Nursing. During her time at the Red Cross, she spent 3 months at the 9/11/2001 Disaster site, as well as traveling the world to help those in need at many unexpected disasters.

Karen was predeceased by her loving husband John Bonnie, with whom she shared many worldwide adventures. She is survived by her children Diane Bonnie Walsh (Tom), Mike Bonnie (Sandy), Lisa Bonnie Kendall (Bill) and Dave Bonnie (Julie). Also survived by 8 cherished grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Karen will be truly missed by her family as a loving mother, and caring GGee to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved hearing their stories and seeing the many text message pictures sent to her every week. Her bright spirit and kindness were also felt by her many friends at the Montevalle Community.
