Howard Kim Graham Obituary

Howard Kim Graham of Santa Cruz, California passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, April 23, surrounded by his family. Kim was a family man, an incredible man. He was a wonderful, strong, funny and brilliant friend to many. He has left this consciousness and is now in a peaceful resting place. He was funny, loving, and protective, and he had endless curiosity about his life and his fellow humans.

Kim was born in Van Nuys, CA to Sylvia and Malcolm Graham. He graduated from Verdugo Hills High School, University of Santa Barbara, and Santa Clara Law University and received his doctorate in law in 1983, practicing personal injury for 37 years until he retired in 2020. He enjoyed surfing, biking, camping, gardening and walking along West Cliff Drive. And most importantly he loved just hanging out with his family. He shared adventures with his family to Europe and Mexico and with his wife to Europe, Costa Rica, and Turkey. He will be forever missed and lovingly remembered for years to come for the great impact he had on many lives.

Kim is survived by his wife, Dawn, of 43 years; his daughter Jessica; his son Ryan (Kelly); and his three grandchildren Gemma, Avery, and Addison; and his brother, Brent; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends throughout the U. S.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Kim’s honor on June 13, 2026, at the Seymour Center (Longs Marine Lab), at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers we ask you to make a donation in his name to the Santa Cruz Surfrider Foundation (www.santacruz.surfrider.org) or Save Our Shores (www.saveourshores.org).
