Richard Glenn Walker Obituary

Richard was born on July 10, 1945, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and grew up in Santa Cruz, California, where he attended local elementary schools and Santa Cruz High School. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1967, earning two Bronze Stars for his service in Vietnam.


Richard had a deep love for travel and photography, capturing moments from his many adventures and sharing them through colorful stories filled with humor. His quick wit and storytelling brought laughter and joy to family and friends throughout his life.


He worked for Plantronics, a company he truly enjoyed, and retired in 2015. Even after retirement, he remained close with many of his coworkers, reflecting on the lasting friendships he built over the years.


Richard is survived by his wife and partner of 37 years, Betty; his son, Brian; his stepdaughter, Corinne (Rick) Turnwall; his grandchildren, Ethan, Delaney (Daniel), Richard W. Turnwall, and Alorah Turnwall; his brother-in-law, Charles D. Smith; and his sister-in-law, Charlene McSweeny.


A celebration of Richard’s life will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Santa Cruz Memorial Oakwood Crystal Chapel, 3301 Paul Sweet Road, Santa Cruz, California, with a light lunch to follow at the same location. All who attends are encouraged to share stories, laughter, and memories in his honor.

Richard will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for his warmth, humor, and the joy he brought to those around him.
