Sheena Meurrens passed away at home in Aptos, California on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, after courageously facing a two-year battle with cancer. She was 73 years old. Throughout her life, Sheena touched many people with her indomitable spirit and consistently positive outlook on life.

Born in Fort William, Canada, Sheena immigrated to the United States in 1956. She completed her high school education at Grover Cleveland High School. Sheena went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Cardiorespiratory Sciences from the University of Oklahoma. She further advanced her expertise to become a Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician and a Registered Respiratory Therapist.

Sheena dedicated 16 years of her career as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. Afterward, she embarked on a second professional journey as a YMCA fitness instructor, where she continued to inspire those around her.

Sheena enjoyed the competitive nature of tennis and pickleball. She was an avid skier in Colorado and California and enjoyed traveling and seeing new places. The time she spent with her boys and her granddaughter brought her great joy.

Sheena is survived by her loving husband, Mike; her devoted sons, Pho of Portland and Grant of Truckee; and her granddaughter, Amelia of Southern California. Sheena’s approachable demeanor and competitive spirit will be fondly remembered by all who had the opportunity to get to know her. She was predeceased by her brother Cam, as well as her parents, Bill and Georgina.

Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life ceremony, which will be held on June 14, 2026, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM in the Horticulture Room at Cabrillo Community College. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Santa Cruz County.

The family thanks the caregivers at Hospice of Santa Cruz County, Stanford and Good Samaritan Hospitals, the Santa Cruz County Cycling Club and Seascape Sports Club pickleball group for their kindness and support.

Sheena will be remembered for her strength, her warmth, and the quiet determination with which she lived her life. Her enthusiasm for staying active, her competitive spirit, and her deep love for her family left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Though she will be dearly missed, her example of resilience, kindness, and joy will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
