Arianna Arissara Hissom Obituary
Arianna was born in Okinawa, Japan at Camp Lester Naval Hospital to Patrick and Kannika Hissom on June 14th, 2007. Her life was tragically cut short in the early morning of March 15th, 2026 in Sacramento, CA.
She is survived by her mother Kannika (Joyjinda) and her stepfather Michael Kodres, her father Patrick and stepmother Monique Hissom (Monteiro), her younger sister Sylvia Hissom, and her younger half-sister Alessandra Kodres. She is also survived by her extensive extended family; grandparents Montha Joyjinda (Kannika), Gloria and Bradley Ward (Patrick), Russell and Rita Hissom (Patrick), Jose and Neize Monteiro (Monique), Ray and Betsy Kodres (Michael), and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins throughout the United States and the world.
As a military child, Arianna traveled and moved frequently. At two, she moved to Spokane, WA following her father’s assignment there. At four, she moved to Thailand and lived with grandmother Montha. At six, she returned to Wisconsin for a short stay with Gloria and Bradley. She then lived with her father in Maryland until age 12, then to Aptos, CA with her mother and Michael until she graduated high school, and finally to Sacramento, CA where she was attending Sacramento State University.
Ari was blessed with great intelligence, earning dozens of scholastic achievement awards through middle and high school, including a local scholarship via Omega Nu Santa Cruz. She was always one to put others before herself, and nearly inseparable from her younger sister, Sylvia, as they banded together through a lifetime of annual travel and moving between states and countries.
Most recently as a teenager she lived a life of service to others. This included volunteering at Jacob’s Heart preparing grocery deliveries for families with cancer-stricken children, volunteering at Sutter Hospital in reception, and working at the Teen Kitchen Project where she prepared nourishing meals for people with serious illnesses.
Her goals were to attend medical school and become a psychiatrist, while continuing to serve others in her new community at CSU Sacramento, of which she had become a proud member. Services for Ari will be held on March 31st, 2026 at Oakwood Memorial Chapel in Santa Cruz. A public viewing begins at 10:00 AM, with a service at 11:30. Her interment will be at Santa Cruz Memorial Park at 2:00 PM.
To honor Arianna, guests are encouraged to wear something purple, which was her favorite color. All black outfits are discouraged as Ari enjoyed the colors of life, and we wish to honor her with brightness on this day.
In lieu of flowers, Arianna's family has set up a donation campaign to assist with the unexpected expenses of losing such a young family member. Please visit: www.givesendgo.com/AAH for the details and to donate.
