Marietta Robinson passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
Marietta was born in Eagle Grove, Iowa on December 5, 1933. She grew up in small farming communities of central Iowa graduating with a BS degree from Iowa State College at Ames, Iowa. She taught home economics for one year in a small town close to the university in Iowa City.
She married Norman Robinson in 1956 in her home Congregational church in Eagle Grove. Norm’s call to service in the dental corps of the Public Health Service took them from the rolling hills of Iowa farmland to Long Beach, CA where they started their family. When the Health Service obligation was finished in the fall of 1958, they moved their home to Santa Cruz, where they remained.
Along with maintaining the home and raising her family she enjoyed the rich environment that Santa Cruz offers. Marietta participated in Women’s Bible Study Fellowship during her 40s. She backpacked the Central Sierra Nevada Mountains each year in her 40s and 50s.
Marietta maintained uninterrupted participation in the First Presbyterian and later Vintage Faith churches.
Her last request, moments before passing, was for the reading of Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, 2:8.
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves. It is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.”
Marietta was predeceased by her second son David Scott. She is survived by husband Norm, four children Richard, John, Jane Hagenau, and Susan Leonetti, grandchildren David, Charles, Christina, Matthew, Gain, Ben, Chris, Nathan, Tristan, Devin, Sidney, and one great grandchild.
