It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Kathy Mahoney Kershaw, a beloved wife and a dearly cherished member of the Capitola community. Kathy has blessed the Capitola village area with her kindness and humor for over forty years, and she will be deeply missed.

Kathy was born to Irene Clothier and Frank Mahoney on May 18th, 1948, and grew up in Los Angeles. She would go on to have a rich and diverse life full of travel and love. She worked as a 21 dealer in South Shore Lake Tahoe, an airline stewardess, and eventually a teacher.

On New Years Eve of 1981, Kathy met her husband, Terry Kershaw. On August 13th, 1983, the two were married and would move to Capitola the same year. From there Kathy lived in Capitola for the rest of her life and became an absolute treasure to the community. She was always social and friendly, she loved meeting new people, and it was clear that people loved meeting her too! She became known as “Capitola Kathy” and knew everyone in the village.

Aside from being an active member of her community, Kathy had many colorful interests. She adored traveling, with her vacation of choice being cruise lines or trips to the Caribbean and Mexican Riviera. Kathy and her husband Terry often sang Karaoke around the various venues of the Capitola Village, one of her favorite songs was “These Boots Are Made For Walking”.

Kathy will be extremely missed by all, especially her soulmate and husband Terry.
