Janet May Hagen Obituary

Janet May Hagen, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025, at the age of 100. She was born on May 3, 1925, in San Francisco, California, to Albert and Olga Forseberg, and grew up alongside her brother, Winton.

She married the love of her life, Dewain Hagen, on March 20, 1946, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love and devotion. They were blessed with three children: Jeff, Steve, and Karen. Jeff passed earlier in her life, a loss she carried with quiet strength. Steve passed earlier this year, and she was also preceded in death by her husband, Dewain, who passed in 2019, and by her son in law, Jerry Rossetto, who passed earlier this year as well.

A dedicated teacher and proud member of the Beresford Recreation Department, she found great joy in nurturing others and serving her community. She had a deep passion for her work, pouring her heart into every class, program, and connection she made. She also expressed her love through her cooking and baking, delighting family and friends with her amazing meals and her famous cookies that became a cherished tradition.

Janet was deeply involved in the lives of her grandchildren, always ready to take them on new and fun adventures during summers and school breaks. She used her natural teaching skills to help with homework, offer guidance, and care for them when they were sick—moments that became treasured memories and lasting examples of her steady, loving presence. She often fondly reminisced about her own childhood summers spent with family at the Russian River, stories she shared with warmth and joy throughout her life. She also created countless moments of laughter and fun with her family down at the creek at her beloved home, affectionately known as Willowbrook—a place filled with joy, comfort, and togetherness.

Her thoughtful, giving spirit touched countless lives, and she will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen; her grandchildren KC, Brittnie, Brad, and Terra; and her many great grandchildren, all of whom will continue to cherish her legacy. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Jared, a loss she met with the same quiet strength that shaped her life.

Her life was a testament to love, resilience, and devotion to family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
