Obituary of Lannis Joan Bright

Please share a memory of Lannis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lannis Joan Bright, aged 79, passed peacefully surrounded by family, on February 16th 2025, in Santa Cruz, CA. She was born on February 8th, 1946, to George and Eileen Czerwin in Wabash, Indiana. In 1954, Lannis and her family moved to CA, taking up residence in Fresno, Morro Bay, and Bakersfield. As a young girl, Lannis was a member of The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. While in high school she was a majorette and a baton twirler, performing in local parades. In 1964, Lannis graduated from North High School, in Bakersfield, CA, where she met the love of her life Charles Bright. That same year, Lannis and Charles were married in Visalia, CA, on February 14. They were blessed with two sons, Bradley Charles and Scott Andrew. Together the family lived in Bakersfield, Morro Bay, Salinas, and Santa Cruz. Following high school, Lannis enrolled in Frederico’s Beauty College and graduated top of her class. Despite her success in cosmetology school, she decided to take a job at a women’s dress shop. Shortly after, Lannis accepted a position as a bank teller, with Bank of America. This would mark the beginning of a successful 38-year career, concluding in 2002, with her final position as Operations Manager. Following the bank, Lannis worked for the County of Santa Cruz as an Administrative Services Manager, retiring in 2017. Though Lannis was enjoying her retirement, she took a part-time position at Hallmark in the Capitola Mall, to stay busy. Lannis enjoyed traveling, attending church, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and great granddaughters. She will always be remembered for her great work ethic, tenacity, resourcefulness, and strength. Lannis could always be counted on, by friends and family, in times of need. Lannis is survived by her sons, Bradley (Nicole) Bright of Reno, NV and Scott (Becky) Bright of Santa Cruz, CA; her brother, Roger Czerwin of Pismo Beach, CA; five grandchildren, Brandon, Christina, Jacob, Jared, and Brayden; great-grandchildren Angelina and Isabella; and a niece Brenda. Lannis was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Bright. A private burial will be held later, at Oakwood Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Santa Cruz SPCA. https://spcasc.org/.
