Obituary of Ed Arredondo
Please share a memory of Ed to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Edward Arredondo, age 74, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 15, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at home in Capitola, CA.
In October Ed suffered a stroke and fought hard to recover. However, complications set in and recovery was not meant to be. Ed, his wife Deborah, and his son Adam were blessed to see Ed come home with hospice care. They were given the gift of time together to share memories and love, leaving nothing left unsaid.
Ed was born in Salinas, CA and raised in Castroville, CA. Ed attended local schools. He graduated from North Salinas High, attended Hartnell Junior College and then on to San Jose State. His focus was corrections and youth counseling. Ed worked a variety of jobs in support of at - risk youth. He was a camp counselor, involved with Special Olympics, a residential house parent for emotionally disturbed children, and a counselor at Juvenile Hall in Santa Cruz. Ed retired as a youth counselor/correctional officer for the State of California Youth Authority.
In retirement Ed lived his best life. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved to travel. Some of his favorite trips and cruises were to Hawaii, Mexico, Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, Alaska, the Panama Canal and several countries in Europe where he will tell you the city of Venice was his favorite stop.
He was an avid Giants fan, and he took pleasure in traveling to see many of their games across the USA. Golf was also a passion in retirement. He volunteered for 12 years as an ambassador at Seascape Golf Course which he thoroughly enjoyed.
Ed will be missed by so many, especially by his wife, Deborah of 44 years, and his only son Adam. Ed was an exemplary man. A man of character, honesty, loyalty, and compassion. He always believed in the good of people. We will continue to live in the love and light he left behind.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made out to Hospice of Santa Cruz County.
