Obituary of David Joseph Briscoe
Please share a memory of David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
David Briscoe passed away at the age of 73 on September 19. He was lucky enough to be born into a loving and devoted family, especially his mother and maternal grandparents, who enriched his life until their passing.
He was raised in Stockton and attended Lincoln High School, Delta College and later Sacramento State. Though he had many health challenges throughout his life, beginning with a sports-related head injury, he carried on without complaint, and was stoic his whole life and was always proud to be from Stockton.
David was a good guy. He was empathetic and cared greatly for underdogs and anyone who struggled. He had unfailing kindness for all animals and literally wouldn’t hurt a fly.
David always spoke his truth. A one-of-a-kind personality, stubborn but loyal to his friends regardless of their actions. In his later years he told every woman he met they were beautiful, and he meant it. He had a great sense of humor, often self-depreciating.
He moved to Santa Cruz and was a longtime resident at Soquel Leisure Villa. While there, his compassion for his fellow residents displayed his ability to make everyone around him feel valued even if they were strangers.
He loved boxing, handball, the Rolling Stones and The Godfather movies. He was just a kind guy who left a mark on our hearts.
He is survived by his sister Jean Castro and brother-in-law Tom Castro who treated David like his own brother.
