Obituary of Julie Gay Burge
Julie Gay Burge passed away, Friday, November 30, 2018 at her home in Live Oak, Santa Cruz County, California. Julie was the daughter of Charles Kilburger and Nelva Hancock and was born September 28, 1945 in San Bernardino California. She lived most of her life in Santa Cruz County and attended Soquel High. She loved her career as a waitress, serving at many local restaurants including Tiny’s and Denny’s. One of her favorite pass times was collecting sea shells and sea glass at the beach. In her youth she was an avid certified scuba diver and spent many memorable hours enjoying the underwater wonders of our coast. She was also extremely accomplished in crochet, making beautiful afghans as gifts for family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Anna Burge Rehrig. She leaves her son, Phil Reader (Karell), her brother Mike and half-brother, Johnny Walbridge (Annalies) and half-sister, Janis English (Phil), many nieces and nephews and her grandchildren, Matalyn and Ben Rehrig, as well as her dear friend and neighbor, Angela Bernardo. A gathering of her friends and family is planned to scatter her ashes in the ocean that she loved.
