Obituary of Jordon Carter Sturtevant

Please share a memory of Jordon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jordon Carter Sturtevant passed away this past Sunday in Aptos at the young age of 26. Jordon was born in Santa Cruz and lived in La Selva Beach, Corralitos and Aptos, attending Bradley Elementary, Aptos Academy and Aptos High School. Jordon was a bright spirit, an artist and an avid reader. He was a tremendous natural athlete with boundless energy. He had played on the Waxem Water Polo team since 7th grade and started varsity water polo his freshman year. He graduated from Aptos High in 2010. Jordon was a true Santa Cruz local. He loved the music, the mountains, the organic food, and of course the ocean. He loved to cook and was an artist when it came to his food. He worked as a chef for Snow White, Seascape Resort, River Street Café, West End Tap and eventually Café Cruz, which he loved. He dreamed of opening a restaurant of his own at some point. He also loved the outdoors, Death Valley of late or just camping out somewhere, anywhere, in Santa Cruz County. He had a passion for bugs and could surprisingly spurt out the habits or history of creatures most of us would never think of. He could also sing and was an animal whisperer. He was witnessed catching wild birds on more than a few occasions. (Once he caught a sparrow mid-flight, who can do that?) He also had a passion for film photography and recently won awards at the Santa Cruz County Fair for his work. Jordon took on life with zeal, excitement and a no-fear attitude. He saw injuries as a badge of courage, but was also pure and righteous. Many could see him skateboarding to wherever he was going with his beautiful wolf dog pulling the lead and his gorgeous, long, blonde hair blowing in the wind. He adored his dog and his beautiful girlfriend. He was loved so much and had so many friends from all walks of life. He left his mark on this town, to say the least. He will be forever loved, missed and always in our hearts. Jordon is survived by his father Don W. Sturtevant, mother Kathleen Sturtevant, brothers Logan W. and Bill Sturtevant, sisters Carolin Rae, Courtney Lynn and Rozlyn Zelinda Sturtevant, his girlfriend Bryanna Villareal and her son Theo, grandparents Carter and Karen Engelund, grandmothers Dianne Engelund and Eleanor Z. Sturtevant, his aunt (who was like a sister to him) Kristin Engelund Harris and her husband Westly, uncles Jon and Eric Engelund, his uncle Dean and his wife Rochelle Sturtevant, cousins Jonah, Joplin and Jon Thomas Engelund, Jake, Raquel and Chanel Sturtevant, Alex and Ryan Walker, nieces Nadeen, Samantha, Josette and Zalia, nephews Gabrial, "Bubba" and other extended family and friends.
