Obituary of Charles Enrico

The Family of Charles Enrico Jr. sadly announces his passing on September 12, nine days before his 90th birthday. Born in San Francisco to Carlo and Paula, Charles was a lifelong resident of Santa Cruz. Upon graduating from Santa Cruz High School, in 1947, he worked as a foreman for Santa Cruz Artichoke Sprout Association. Shortly after graduation he met and married Jacquolene Gershott. They had three children, Vince, Donnie and Darlene.
He was drafted into the United States Army and proudly served in the Korean War. He received the Bronze Star, the Korea Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. He was with the 4th SIGNAL BATTALION, CORPS APO 909 and was Honorably Discharged, rank of Sgt. First Class.
Following the war, he returned home and started a 44-year career with Lone Star Industry in Davenport. He was an active member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders, Blacksmiths, Forgers and Helpers, AFL-CIO,CFL.
He enjoyed gardening and sharing his crops with neighbors, family & friends, riding his motorcycle, line dancing, and traveling in his RV. He was an avid fisherman, spending hours smelt fishing at Greyhound Rock and Klamath Falls. He volunteered with Santa Cruz Little and Pony Leagues. He was a member of the Marconi Club and the Elks Lodge. He was a big fan of the San Francisco 49ers and the Golden State Warriors.
Charles is survived by his son Donnie ( Dina ), daughter Darlene ( Mike ), grandson Scott ( Rebecca ), granddaughter Kelly ( Tim ), great granddaughters Addison and Emma, sister Betty of Scotts Valley, brother Andy ( Linda ) of Boise Idaho, friend and companion Lorraine Amos and family, Rhett Beatton and family, Shirley Enrico, and numerous extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents Carlo and Paula, his wife Jacquolene and his son Vince.
The family would like to thank Dominican Hospital, Santa Cruz Post Acute, Hospice of Santa Cruz and the Sunshine Villa for all the love and support they gave our Dad.
Per Charles request there will be NO SERVICES. Interment will be at Santa Cruz Memorial alongside his wife and son. In lieu of flowers, be kind to one another.
