Helen McCall, 82, of Santa Cruz formerly of Sunnyvale, CA died peacefully on October 12, 2016 at Dominican Hospital, Santa Cruz. Born April 13, 1934 she is predeceased by her husband of 45 years, George McCall; and her son, Greg McCall. Helen was born in Berkeley, CA to John and Anna (Luke) Sherry. She attended St. Joseph High School, graduating in 1952. She was an accomplished pianist and had an abiding love for music. Helen was considered a "Simpatico Cat" by the SF jazz scene in the 1950s and was involved with Beat poetry. Her life changed when she met her husband, George, and became a homemaker, raising three children of her own, some of the neighborhood kids and countless dogs and reptiles. She loved being outdoors, whether rock hunting at Año Nuevo or in the Sierras. She spent her last several years at Dominican Oaks in Santa Cruz where she made many new friends. Survivors include her sister, Ottillia "Tee" (Bill) Easton of Placerville; daughter, Lindsey (Dwight) Anderson of Los Gatos; son, Mike (Charlotte) McCall; and five grandchildren: Sam Robinson, Shea Robinson, Skyler Anderson, Luke McCall and Lindsey McCall. A Celebration of Helen's Life will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Santa Cruz Memorial - Oakwood Chapel, 3301 Paul Sweet Road, Santa Cruz.
