Obituary of Freddie Thompson

Please share a memory of Freddie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Freddie Thompson was born on August 30, 1926 to the union of John and Christine Domineck-Thompson of Slaughter, LA, both of whom preceded him in death. He was the third eldest of eight children. Freddie met Rozella Shanklin and was united in marriage in 1945. Together they had seven children. This union lasted for 62 years until death. Freddie gave his life to Jesus Christ at an early age. He resided in Santa Cruz, CA for over 60 years. He retired from the Santa Cruz County Public Works Department. Freddie was a die-hard Los Angeles Dodgers fan and a very outgoing person. Everyone Freddie met was a friend - no one was a stranger. He opened his home to many people. Cooking and eating were some of Freddie's favorite things to do. You would find him eating collard greens, fried chicken, and corn bread on any given day. Freddie took pride in being a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He leaves to mourn his four daughters - Barbara Clark and Patricia (Curtis) Blue of Santa Cruz, CA; Shell (John) Burton of Decatur, GA; Rachale Coberly of San Jose, CA; three sons - Freddie Jr. (Anna May) of Slaughter, LA; Milton Thompson and Kenneth Thompson of Santa Cruz, CA; four sisters - Mable Carroll and Florida (John) Whitley of Santa Cruz, CA; Essie B. (Henry) Howard of Las Vegas, NV; Dellorie Hayes of Baton Rouge, LA; twenty grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Freddie was preceded in death by three brothers - Northern Thompson, Johnny Thompson, J.B Thompson; brother-in-law, Adoile Turner, and sister-in-law, Althea Heard-Thompson.
